Settling in for Huricane Irene

So they say Ms. Irene is going to hit us in the morning so I've gone out and done everything I need to do today. I am not sure how bad the storm will be but I decided to be prepared anyway.

At this point Irene has gone through North Carolina and Virginia, which means D.C. is next. I'm just praying that we don't lose power and that the flooding doesn't damage my baby Vanessa (my car).

I found a new TV series on Netflix that I like. I'm just going to wait it and hope we don't lose power. I hate that Irene had to ruin our weekend instead of coming in the middle of the week. Oh well...
The view of the gray gray sky from my room.

On a brighter note, I have another byline coming soon that I will post as soon as I have access to the link. I am working on several story ideas for my NewsLab class; it should be very exciting! I will do my best to keep posting regularly even though the school year always get kind of insane.

I think Irene is just here to say, "Summertime is over! Get back to reality."

Mother Nature does not like the East Coast

This weekend the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial on the National Mall was going to be unveiled. People are coming into DC from all over the country to witness the opening ceremony originally scheduled to take place at 10 am on Sunday...

However, it has just been announced that the ceremony will be postponed. Why? Because of hurricane... Hurricane Irene.

Irene is expected to pound the entire East Coast including Virginia, Maryland, DC, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. My university is recommending that we be prepared to go without power and stock up on food we can make without cooking or refrigeration  and water. I'm actually starting to get a little concerned...

Not to mention there was an earthquake in the same area on Tuesday. Mother nature just won't cut us any slack this week.
