Veteran's Day

Early in life, I did not really understand the importance of Veteran's Day. I understood that it was a day to honor the military. It seemed quite similar to Memorial Day. I think that was because at the time I was not aware of all the living veterans there were in my family. My grandmother, told me that two of my great- uncles died in World War I. Because of this ongoing, seemingly never ending war on terror in the Middle East, so many families have soldiers abroad fighting for our protection. Many are against the war, and that's fine. But please make sure we understand that the troops are only following orders and need all the help and support that we can give them.

So, now that I understand the importance of the day I felt like it was necessary for me to just say publicly that I love my veterans! We thank you for you unwavering courage, strength and patriotism.

This striking young man to the left of the text is my dad, a former marine.
